The UCC 28950 Enhanced Phase Shift Controller builds on Texas Instruments' industry standard UCx 895 Phase Shift Controller family to provide the best stage efficiency in today's high performance power systems. The UCC 28950 enables advanced control of the full bridge, as well as active control of the synchronous rectified output stage.
The primary side signal allows programmable delays to ensure zvs operation over a wide load current and input voltage range, while the load current naturally adjusts the secondary side synchronous rectification switching delay, maximizing the overall efficiency of the system.
The UCC28950 also provides several light load management features, including burst mode and dynamic SR switching control, ensuring ZVS operation extends to lighter loads when transitioning to discontinuous current mode (DCM) operation.
Additionally, the UCC 28950 includes support for current or voltage mode control. Programmable switching frequency up to 1 MHz and extensive protection features including cycle-by-cycle current limit, UVLO and thermal shutdown. A 90-degree phase-shift interleaved synchronization operation can easily be arranged between the two converters.
The UCC 28950 is available in the TSSOP-24 package.
