The TPS54561 is a 60V, 5A, step-down regulator with an integrated high-side MOSFET. The device is capable of withstanding load dump pulses up to 65V per ISO 7637 standard. Current-mode control provides simple external compensation and flexible component selection. A low-ripple pulse-skipping mode reduces supply current to 152µA at no load. When the enable pin is pulled low, the shutdown supply current is reduced to 2µA.
Undervoltage lockout is internally set to 4.3V, but can be increased with an external resistor divider on the enable pin. The output voltage start-up ramp is controlled by the soft-start pin, which can also be configured to control sequencing/tracking. An open-drain power good signal indicates that the output is within 93%_ to 106%_ of its nominal voltage.
The wide adjustable switching frequency range can be optimized for efficiency or external component size. Cycle-by-cycle current limit, frequency foldback, and thermal shutdown protect internal and external components from overload conditions.
The TPS54561 is available in a 10-pin 4mm x 4mm WSON package.
