illustrate

These solid state display devices are designed and tested for use in hostile industrial environments. Character height is 7.4 mm (0.29 inches). Digital and hexadecimal devices include a driver function that contains data storage, decoding and display. Digital equipment decodes positive BCD logic into characters "0-9", a "-" sign, decimal point, and test pattern. Hex-mal device decoding positive BCD logically divided into 16 characters, "0-9, AF" provides an input on hexa-retaining the decimal point of the device display (all LEDs off) without amnestic content. Overrange devices display "±1" and the right hand decimal point is usually driven by an external switching transistor.

Optical characteristics at TA=25°C, VCC=5.0 V

notes:

1. The nominal thermal resistance of a display mounted in a socket soldered to a printed circuit board is RθJA = 50°C/W/device. The device package thermal resistance is RθJ-PIN=15°C/W/device. Thermal resistance devices should not exceed 35°C/W/device through the PC board to operate at TA=+85°C.

2. The voltage value is related to the device ground pin 6.

3. These displays are classified by luminous intensity, the intensity category is designated by a letter code located on the back of the display package. The case temperature of the device was equal to 25°C prior to the light measurement.

Electrical Characteristics; TA=-55°C to +85°C

notes:

4. The luminous intensity IV (T a) at a specific working ambient temperature can be approximated by the following index

Equation: IV(TA=IV(25°C) e[k(T-25°C)].

5. The dominant wavelength λd is derived from the CIE chromaticity diagram and is a defining device.

6. HDSP-0860 and HDSP-0960 series devices are classified by dominant wavelength, and their classes are designated by the numbers on the back of the display package.

7. All typical values at VCC=5.0 V and TA=25°C.

Handling Precautions

Electrical These devices use a 4 x 7 dot matrix of lighted diodes to display decimal/hexadecimal-digital information. This high-efficiency red-yellow LED is a GaAsP epitaxial layer on a slot-transparent substrate. Green light emitting diodes are layer substrates on transparent gaps of gap epitaxy. The LEDs are driven through a constant current driver, the memory lines are displayed logic low when BCD information is enabled, and latched logic high when data is enabled. Using the enable pulse width and data set and hold recommended times operating conditions allow data to be programmed and displayed at a rate of 6.7 MHz. With the decimal point input active low true, this data is locked into display memory in the same way as BCD data. Driving the decimal point LED is provided by the vehicle IC. The blanking control input on the hexadecimal display blanks (circle off) the displayed information to display the memory without interfering with the content. The display is hiding the 2.0 volt level at the minimum threshold. When covered, the display standby power is nominally 250 MW at TA=25°C. The main thermal path power dissipation of the machine is through the device leads. Therefore, to ensure reliable operation an ambient temperature of +85°C is important to maintain a case-ambient thermal resistance below 35°C watts/device assembly measured on top of display pin 3. See Application-How- To 1027 , Soldering LED Components, for information on soldering and post-solder cleaning.

Contrast Enhancement These display devices are designed to provide optimal placement of on/off contrast after proper contrast enhancement filters. For further information, please refer to Application Note 1015, Contrast Enhancement Technology LED Displays. Overrange Display Overrange devices display "1" and a decimal point. The character height and wrapping are configured with numeric and hex devices. Character selection is obtained by exchanging external transistors with current limiting resistors.
