notes:
1. Circuit ground is internally isolated from chassis ground.
2. The laser output is disabled or turned on when TDIS>2.0V, and enabled when TDIS<0.8V.
3. Should be pulled up between 2.0V and 3.6V at 4.7k–10kohms on the motherboard. MOD_DEF(0) pulls the line low, indicating that the module is plugged in.
4.LOS is an open collector output. Should be pulled up between 2.0V and 3.6V at 4.7k–10kohms on the motherboard. Logic 0 indicates normal operation; logic 1 indicates loss of signal.
2. Absolute Maximum Ratings
3. Electrical Characteristics (TA=-20 to 85°C, VCC=3.0 to 3.6V
notes:
1. Does not condense.
2. Connect directly to the TX data input pin. AC coupling from pins to laser driver chip.
3. For best EMI performance, we recommend <600mV.
4. Or open circuit.
5. Enter 100 ohm differential termination.
6.20-80%
7.LOS is an open collector output. Should be pulled up with a 4.7k–10kohms resistor on the motherboard. Normal operation is logic 0; loss of signal is logic 1. The maximum pull-up voltage is 5.5V.
8. Receiver sensitivity conforms to mains sinusoidal modulation 20 Hz to 1.5 MHz to the specified value applied through the recommended mains filtering network.
9. Typical peak-to-peak jitter (=6*RMS jitter width).
10. Measured with no DJ data input signal. In practical applications, the output DJ is the sum of the input DJs and ΔDJ.
11. If measured with TJ free data input signal. In a practical application, the output TJ will be given by:
4. Optical characteristics (top = -20 to 85°C, VCC = 3.00 to 3.60 volts)
notes:
1. Class 1 laser safety in compliance with FDA/CDRH, IEC and EN60825-1 laser safety standards.
2. Fibre Channel Equivalent Extinction Ratio Specification. Lesser ER powers are allowed at higher averages.
3. Unfiltered, 20-80%. Complies with FC 1x and 2x eye masks when filtered.
4. Measured with no DJ data input signal. In practical applications, the output DJ is the sum of the input DJs and ΔDJ.
5. If measured with TJ free data input signal. In a practical application, the output TJ will be given by:
6. Specifications apply to 50 micron or 62.5 micron fiber
7. Measured with 9dB extinction ratio.
8. Measured using the conformance signal defined in the FC-PI-2 version. 10.0 Specification.
9. Measured with conformance signals as defined in the IEEE 802.3 specification.
5. General Specifications

6. Environmental Specifications Finisar 850nm SFP transceivers operate from –20°C to +85°C case temperature.
7. Regulatory Compliance
Finisar transceivers are Class I laser products and are FDA compliant. These products are TüV and CSA certified to meet the requirements of EN(IEC) 60825 and EN(IEC) 60950 for Class 1 eye safety requirements.
8. Digital diagnostic function
Finisar FTLF8519P2xNL SFP transceiver supports 2-wire serial communication protocol defined in SFP MSA1 which has a very close relationship with E2 PROM defined in GBIC standard with the same electrical specifications. Standard SFP serial numbers provide access to identifying information that describes the transceiver's functionality, standard interface, manufacturer, and other information. Additionally, Finisar SFP transceivers offer a unique enhanced digital diagnostic monitoring interface that allows real-time access to device operating parameters such as transceiver temperature, laser bias current, transmitted optical power, received optical power supply, and transceiver supply voltage. It also defines a sophisticated system of alarms and warning signs when certain operating parameters are outside the normal ranges set by the factory. The SFP MSA defines a 256-byte memory map in E2 available through a 2-wire serial interface at 8-bit address 1010000X (A0h). The digital diagnostic monitoring interface uses the 8-bit address 1010001X (A2h), so the defined serial ID memory map remains the same. The interface is therefore fully backward compatible with the GBIC specification and the SFP Multi source protocol. Finisar Application Note - 2030: "Digital Diagnostic Monitoring Interface for SFP Optical Transceivers". Operational and diagnostic information is digitally monitored and reported by the Diagnostic Transceiver Controller (DDTC) within the transceiver, accessible via a 2-wire serial interface. When the serial protocol is activated, the serial clock signal (SCL, Mod Def 1) is generated by the host. Positive edge clock data into the SFP transceiver into these segments of E2 which are not write protected PROM. This clock data from the negative edge of the SFP transceiver. Serial data signals (SDA, Mod are bidirectional for serial data transfer. The host associates SDA with SCL to mark the start and end of serial protocol activation. Memories are organized as a series of 8-bit data words that can be individually or sequentially addressing.
Note: AN-2030.
Note that the evaluation board FDB-1018 can be used with the Finisar ModDEMO software that allows simple communication via the 2-wire serial interface.
9. Digital Diagnostic Specifications
The FTLF8519P2xNL transceivers can be used for digital diagnostics that require internal or external calibration.
notes:
1. The accuracy of the measured Tx bias current is from the laser driver to the laser.
