USB Hub Controller W81181D/AD
The W81181D is a highly integrated 4-port USB hub controller with an integrated microcontroller, implementing a mid-speed (12MHz) and low-speed (1.5MHz) Universal Serial Bus (USB) hub control interface. It supports one upstream port, four downstream ports and one serial interface. The W81181D can be used as a multi-function USB device. For example, the entire system can be designed as a USB hub plus a USB mouse or a USB hub plus an IR receiver without taking up downstream ports and requiring no other components.
The W81181D acts as a USB hub controller and hub repeater in the direction of the internal microcontroller. The W81181D controls traffic between the host, four downstream ports, and the microprocessor. As a hub controller, it can enable/disable ports, send and receive resets, and detect high- or low-speed devices. The W81181D contains three functional endpoints and two hub endpoints, allowing USB control and interrupt transfers between the host and microcontroller.
The W81181D is a composite USB device (hub with embedded functionality) with a total of five downstream ports. The W81181D can be used as a hub controller in a standalone hub with additional functionality, or as a microcontroller-based USB device with hub functionality.

three. USB block diagram
The Serial Interface Engine (SIE) controls the flow of USB data between the UCS and the USB bus. Port 0 is a high speed (hs) transceiver for the upstream data path. Hub repeaters are flow controllers that direct bus data to or from the correct path. The hub controller and function controller determine the data to be written to or read from the various FIFOs. The bus controller directs the interface between the UC and the hub/function controller.
notes:
1. Measured from 10% to 90% of the data signal.
2. Timing difference between differential signals.
3. Measure at the intersection of the differential data signal.
4. Rising and falling edges should transition smoothly (monotonic)
5. On the D+ (DP) data line, full-speed timing has a 1.5 kΩ pull-up voltage up to 2.8 V.
6. Low-speed timing has a 1.5 kΩ pull-up voltage on the D-(DM) data line up to 2.8 V.
7. The maximum load specification is the maximum effective capacitive load that meets the target hub vbus droop.
330 mV.
8. All other USB electrical characteristics refer to USB Specification Version 1.1 7.3.2 and 7.3.3.
