ZA Varistor Series RoHS Lead

The ZA series transient voltage surge suppressors are radial lead varistors (MOVs) designed for the protection of low and medium voltage circuits and systems. Typical applications include motor control, telecommunications, automotive systems, solenoid valves and power circuits to protect circuit board assemblies and maintain data integrity. The devices are available in five sizes: 5mm, 7mm, 10mm. 14mm and 20mm with a wide DC voltage range of 5.5V to 615V . See ZA Series Device Ratings and Specifications table and brand information for part numbers.

Power consumption rating If transients occur continuously, all that is required to average power consumption is the energy per pulse (in watt-seconds) multiplied by the number of pulses per second. Such developed power must be specified in the device ratings and specifications shown on the specifications sheet for the specific device. Additionally, operating values need to be derated at high temperatures. Because varistors can only dissipate a relatively small amount of average power, they are not suitable for involving large amounts of average power dissipation.
