W6630CR Application Stereo Audio DAC
General description
The Winbond W6630 is a stereo audio DAC chip incorporating 8X digital interlatoin filters, 64x multi-level over sampling delta-sigma modulators, analog low-pass filter and output extensivers. The chip can operate from 2.7 volts to 5.25 volts. Moreover, the 16 or 18 bit linear input data for DAC consistes of two formats, normal format and I2s format. In addition, the device includes two control modes. One is the hardware model capable of controlling the profile and e-commerce. The other is software mode, where the 4x9-bit internal control record can be controlled by the Serial Setup Port (SSP). Many functions such as 256 step attenuation, DAC mute, digital de-emphasis and format conversions can be setup through these registers.
Because Device can enter high performance and low cost design, the main application of this device is some consumer systems as VCD system, CD playback system and MPEG audio system.
feature
8226 ; Power supply from +2.7 to +5.25 volts, typically +5 volts for analog and digital power supply Sample clock frequency: 32 K, 44.1 K and 48 kHz Master clock frequency: 384 or 256 times the sample clock frequency Stereo 16 or 18-bit linear PCM data input • Two types of linear PCM data input formats: normal and I 2s format • Delta Sigma DAC with built-in DIGital de-emphasis filter, 8x interpolator, 64x oversampling multi-bit modulator • Stereo DAC output built-in analog low-pass filter and output amplifier with 5 kΩ load High performance audio output: 100 dB SNR, 96 dB dynamic range and -90 dB THD+N Two control function modes: selected by mode pin Hardware mode and software mode • Is the software mode controlled by the 4 x 9-bit registers via the Serial Setup Port (SSP)? Main control functions: de-emphasis, mute, 256-step attenuation, channel output combination, input format selection 16 or 18 bit, I2s or normal? Packaged in a 20-pin SSOP Application Note This device has two power supplies. One is the digital power supply (DVDD); the other is the analog power supply (AVDD). Positive values are provided by 2.7 to 5.25 volts.
The application circuit of VCD (Video CD) is shown in Figure 5-1 below. It uses the oscillator as the main clock input. Therefore, the XTALO pin is open. The audio data input source can come from an MPEG audio decoder or a sound processor. The chip can select hardware mode or software mode through the mode pin. If the user selects software mode, configuration values are available from the microprocessor via the Serial Setup Port (SSP). In addition, the stereo channel output
Optional selection of external low-pass filter and power amplifier to achieve self-design requirements. Since the reset pin has an internal pull-up resistor with a value of about 100 kΩ, the user only needs to add a capacitor to generate an external reset pulse. The value of this capacitor is approximately 33 microF, depending on the VCD power system, as shown in Figure 5-1. In addition, the user can generate a software reset pulse from the microprocessor, as shown in Figure 5-2. The reset signal comes from an I/O port of the microprocessor.
Most of the I/O pins of this chip are TTL compatible, except the ssp eun, sspclk, reset and mode pins. These values are described in the DC specification in the datasheet.
In addition, the device also has a built-in power-on reset circuit. If the reset pin is directly connected to the logic pin, in order to ensure the normal operation of the power-on circuit, it is best for users to connect two different capacitors in parallel at the AVDD and DVDD pins. Since the power-on reset circuit is powered by the AVDD pin, the capacitance value of AVDD is larger than that of DVDD. For example, dvdd has a value of 0.1 microF and avdd has a value of 10 microF, depending on the VCD player's power system
