The STUSB4500L is a USB Type-C controller that handles sink devices. The device supports a battery-depleted mode for sink devices powered by a battery-depleted state. It can run without any external software support to quickly launch apps and start the charging process right away. On Type-C connection, the STUSB4500L seeks the CC pin for source termination and monitors the VBUS voltage to protect the application from erroneous source operation. When the V bus is in the proper range, the STUSB4500L powers the application by closing the input switch. The available current advertised by SOURCE is reported to the application to adjust the sink current. The port status can be monitored by software through the I2C interface. Thanks to its 20 V technology, it implements a high voltage function that protects the CC pin from short circuits to V BUS.
