The TC78B027FTG uses Intelligent Phase Control (InPAC) and closed-loop speed control technology. InPACs provide high-efficiency drive capabilities that help achieve phase synchronization of drive voltage and current to deliver maximum real power to the load. This operation is often impossible without some compensation mechanism, and it is usually necessary to clarify the motor characteristics in advance and adjust the working state in real time to achieve the highest efficiency in the entire speed range. However, InPAC provides automation capabilities that can be initialized during design, minimizing subsequent tuning efforts and helping to speed development.

Closed-loop speed control adjusts and maintains motor speed under dynamic power fluctuations and load changes, a valuable feature for mission-critical applications such as server fans and other cooling applications. Toshiba precisely sets the speed profile through the built-in non-volatile memory (NVM), thus eliminating the need for an external MCU to complete closed-loop speed control when using the TC78B027FTG.

In addition, the TC78B027FTG solution simplifies motor selection. The TC78B027FTG requires only one hall sensor input and can be used with a single hall sensor motor or a traditional 3 hall sensor motor. The IC also uses Hall sensor analog or Hall IC digital signals for rotor position detection, which really simplifies the user's motor selection task.

For low-power applications, designers can also consider the fully integrated driver version "TC78B025FTG" covering 16V/3.5A applications.
