Image of Broadcom's AEAT-8811-Q24 Programmable Angular Magnetic Encoder The Broadcom AEAT-8811-Q24 is an angular magnetic rotation sensor that provides accurate angle measurements over a full 360-degree rotation. It is a complex system using integrated Hall sensor elements and complex analog and digital signal processing functions in a single device.
A simple two-pole magnet is rotated vertically and placed in alignment with the center of the device to generate the necessary magnetic field. The Broadcom AEAT-8811-Q24 is a general-purpose solution with a robust architecture capable of measuring and transmitting absolute and incremental signals to support a wide range of applications.
Absolute angle measurements provide selectable and one-time programmable resolutions of 10, 12, 14 or 16 bits for an instant indication of the angular position of the magnet. Once selected, its positioning data will be represented in its digital form for evaluation via the standard SSI 3-wire communication protocol. If desired, the user can also choose to receive its absolute angular position in the PWM-encoded output signal.
Incremental position UVW commutation signal indication via user configurable APR and UVW signals for CPR 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096 and 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1000, 2000 and 4000 The pole pairs are 1 to 8 (2 poles to 16 poles). The AEAT-8811-Q24 does not require an offset calibration procedure and operates from a 5 V supply.
