555 Timer, Texas Instruments' family of highly stable, high precision timing circuits for accurate time delays or timing pulses. These timers can operate in monostable (one shot) or astable (astable) oscillator) mode, with calculation periods ranging from sub-microseconds to minutes. In addition to the original bipolar model, low-power CMOS and LinCMOS variants are also available. These devices support longer clock cycles and significantly reduce power consumption.
