Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced that China Radio and Television had obtained its 5G commercial license, adding another strong opponent to the three operators of China Mobile, Linkage and Telecom. Although the radio and television have never been involved in the mobile communication business and have not established base stations before, the State Grid, which has always wanted to enter the field of communications, has given radio and television financial and resource support. .
Some professionals have analyzed that the State Grid has a solid capital base and sufficient infrastructure resources such as power tower resources, substations, cable trenches, etc., while the 700MHz frequency band resources of radio and television are regarded as the golden frequency band for the development of mobile communications, which has signal propagation losses. In the first batch of 5G test frequency licenses obtained by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology at the end of last year, China Telecom and China Unicom respectively obtained 100MHz bandwidth in the 3.5GHz frequency band. Later, the two announced to jointly build and share 5G networks, while China Mobile obtained the licenses for 160MHz bandwidth and 4.9GHz bandwidth in the 2.6GHz frequency band. The 100MHz bandwidth on the frequency band is consistent with the newly licensed frequency of Radio and Television.
