According to reports, the current leader of Samsung Electronics, Lee Jae-yong, revealed that Samsung will take the lead in mass production of the 3nm process when visiting the semiconductor R&D center in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and discussed the strategy of becoming the world's first to use the 3nm process to manufacture chips.

According to reports, Samsung's 3nm process technology will use the GAA architecture. This architecture is also an extension of the current FinFET technology, allowing chip manufacturers to develop into the process range of microchips. However, before 3nm mass production, Samsung still needs to rely on the 5nm process, and it is expected to achieve large-scale mass production in the first half of this year.

But it is worth mentioning that Samsung is not doing well in the 5nm market. Some Korean media broke the news that the reason why Samsung could not get the OEM order for the Snapdragon 865 chip was because Qualcomm was worried that its technology would be stolen by Samsung and took the opportunity to optimize the Samsung Exynos chip, so it chose to hand it over to TSMC.

Singapore's "Lianhe Zaobao" also reported that although Samsung's 7nm process layout is earlier than TSMC, Qualcomm still handed over the order to TSMC, the reason is still worried that Samsung will copy the chip's process technology.
