The compact S14 AdvanceD-MP series metal oxide disc varistors offer the same excellent performance as the comparable S14 AdvanceD-MP type in a smaller size. The disk size of the new B72214P2 varistor ranges from 17 mm x 13 mm to 18 mm x 14 mm (hxw), a reduction of about 3 mm. Just like their standard S14 counterparts, these components offer a maximum surge current capability of 6 kA at 8/20 μs according to IEC 62368-1. The compact S14 series covers a wide operating voltage range from 130 V RMS to 460 V RMS. Multi-pulse varistors are designed for use in power supplies as the primary protection against low-level repetitive inrush currents. Its optimized design improves derating performance over time. All types have UL, CSA, VDE and IEC approvals.

Due to the compact size and excellent electrical characteristics, the compact S14 varistor helps design engineers reduce product size. These varistors are suitable for a variety of applications including switch-mode power supplies, LED lighting drivers, home appliances, and smart meters.
