According to Nikkei, Samsung Electronics will introduce cutting-edge production equipment for NAND flash memory used in smartphones and other devices at its factory in Xi'an. It mainly supplies local smartphone factories such as Huawei, and the equipment order amount is considered to be in the hundreds of billions of yen.

BusinessKorea believes that in the NAND flash memory market, there is fierce competition among Samsung Electronics, Toshiba, Western Digital, Micron, SK Hynix and Intel, but although Samsung Electronics' increased investment and production expansion will not have much impact on the market, on the one hand Samsung Electronics could also gain more market share as other companies are cutting production.

But the report also pointed out that China and Chinese companies are the largest customers of memory chips, and Samsung Electronics is therefore under pressure to not only complete the investment by August next year, but also fully operate the new production line. Citigroup analyst Lee Se-chul said, "Samsung Electronics expects to expand investment and process up to 40,000 wafers per month."
