The AD9572 is a multiple output clock generator with two on-chip PLL cores optimized for Fibre Channel line card applications including Ethernet interfaces. The integer-N PLL design is based on Analog Devices' proven family of high-performance, low-jitter frequency synthesizers to achieve the highest performance in the network. The device is also suitable for other applications where phase noise and jitter are critical.

The PLL section consists of a low-noise frequency and phase detector (PFD), a precision charge pump (CP), a low-phase noise voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), a preprogrammed feedback divider, and an output divider. Frequencies up to 156.25 MHz can be locked to the input reference by connecting an external crystal or reference clock to the REFCLK pin. Each output divider and feedback divider is preprogrammed for the desired output rate.

The second PLL also acts as an integer divide-by-N frequency synthesizer and drives two LVPECL or LVDS output buffers to support the 106.25 MHz frequency. No external loop filter is required, saving valuable design time and board space.

The AD9572 is available in a 40-lead 6 mm × 6 mm, LFCSP package and can operate from a single 3.3 V supply. The temperature range is ~40°C to +85°C.
