LEM sensor-IT series high-precision sensor usage guide

1. Receiving and unpacking

After receiving the goods, first perform a visual inspection to ensure that the sensor is in good appearance and has no obvious physical damage. All accessories in the packing box should be checked in detail according to the packing list. Once the product is found damaged

If the equipment is damaged under any circumstances, a complaint must be lodged with the shipping company and a report of the specifics of the damage to the product must be sent to LEM. After LEM receives the feedback report, it will provide services such as repair, replacement or return to the factory as soon as possible according to the relevant instructions. Please state the model, serial number and order number of the product when contacting LEM.

2. Sensor installation

The LEM sensor mainly has several modules including status indicator, primary side perforation, mounting hole, primary side current flow, power supply and signal connector. According to different models, the fixing method is different, ITN 12 series is PCB mounting, ITL and ITC series have 4 horizontal mounting holes, IT, ITN, ITB series have 4 horizontal mounting holes, 2 vertical mounting holes, easy to choose the installation direction . The size of the mounting hole, the size and torque of the fixing screw are indicated on the last page of the specification book of the corresponding type of sensor. The primary side current row (cable) passes through the primary side hole of the sensor. Note that the current flow must be consistent with the direction of the arrow marked above the sensor. Otherwise, the output will be negative or inverted. The free area of the primary busbar is the area around the sensor. It is best not to have live busbars (especially return busbars) or cables in this area to avoid local magnetic saturation caused by other currents and affect the overall measurement accuracy. The area is generally defined by a cylinder, the radius r and the length L, the cylinder takes the busbar as the axis of symmetry, and the sensor is fixed at L/2

place.

3. Production of connectors and output cables

Most of the secondary side connectors of high-precision series sensors are D-SUB-9, UNC4-40 type, (ITL 4000-S output terminals are special, using screw-fixed terminals), LEM does not provide matching connectors, Customers need to purchase the corresponding matching connectors and lead out the output cable by themselves. The last page of the sensor specification will give the pin definition diagram of the secondary side connector. Different types of sensors indicate

Refer to the corresponding specification for the method.

4. Selection of measuring resistance

In all specifications, the parameter of the measurement resistance Rm is given. Since the sensor output is a current signal, in order to sample the voltage and facilitate signal processing, a measurement resistance needs to be connected to the output end of the sensor. The measuring resistor is connected between the OUTPUT and RETURN pins in the connector. The size of the measured resistance value will affect the range of the measured current. If it is not selected properly, it will affect the normal use of the sensor. Usually, the value range of the measuring resistance is given in the specification, and the graph of the measuring resistance and the measured current on the primary side is also given. In general, taking the value within the measurement resistance range recommended in the specification can ensure the normal operation of the sensor. If there is any situation that exceeds the measurement current range or the value range of the measurement resistance, please contact LEM technical support in advance, and do not use it without authorization.

5. Sensor status indication signal connection

In the measurement process, it is inevitable that the measured current is overloaded. In order to protect the sensor from damage, and to provide overload reminders to users, the sensor is equipped with overload protection status indication and output signal.

When the measured current on the primary side exceeds the overcurrent trigger value set by the sensor, the sensor saturates and switches from the normal working mode to the overload mode. Usually the trigger value is greater than 110% of the rated DC current. This limit is also related to the corresponding temperature and the size of the measuring resistance. For the specific trigger value, see the corresponding specification. (IN and IT 05 series are 110% of the measurement range, ie 110% Ipm) According to the different external circuits, the output Vout between pins 3 and 8 of the D-SUB connector will also be different. Refer to Figure 6 for the specific external circuit. The specific resistance value can refer to the definition in the corresponding specification.

6. Power supply selection

The IT sensor is powered by DC dual power supply, and the power supply voltage range is ±5% of the allowable voltage. The output power of the power supply is greater than the sum of the current consumption of the sensor, and the output current of the power supply is too small, and the sensor cannot start normally. See Ic in the planning book for the current consumption of the sensor.

7. Turn on the power

Connect the power supply as described in Sections 4, 5, and 6, measure the resistance and the status indicating circuit, and then connect the power supply to the sensor after confirming that the connection is correct. The power-on sequence is as follows:

· Turn on the working power supply of the sensor first, that is, the DC dual power supply. The status indicator LED on the sensor panel lights up green.

· Turn on the current to be measured on the primary side of the sensor. At this time, the output end of the sensor will have the corresponding measurement current output, and the two ends of the measurement resistor will have the corresponding voltage output (see Is in the corresponding specification for the specific output value). The correct output value indicates that the sensor is in normal working condition. Note: Be sure to power on according to the above power-on sequence, otherwise the sensor will be damaged!!!

8. Maintenance

The IT series does not require any maintenance under normal operating conditions.
