MAX14915 Octal High-Side Switch with Diagnostics
The MAX14915 features eight high-side switches capable of delivering up to 700 mA of continuous current. The high-side switch has an on-resistance of 250mΩ (max) at +125°C ambient temperature. The SPI interface has a built-in chip addressing decoder, allowing communication with multiple MAX14915s using a common SPI chip select.
There are many fault conditions in digital I/O systems that need to be protected from voltage, current, and temperature. Discrete or only partially integrated solutions require many components for this protection and take up a lot of space. Maxim's integrated circuit solutions eliminate the need for these external components with highly accurate current limiting to reduce power dissipation. Maxim's DIO ICs are also configurable and can transmit at fast data rates.
The SPI interface provides flexibility for global and per-channel configuration and diagnostics, including overvoltage and undervoltage detection, wire break/load detection, overload and current limit reporting, thermal condition reporting, and more.
Open load detection detects an open/open circuit condition by the switch being on and off. LED drivers provide per-channel indication of fault, status and power supply undervoltage conditions. Internal active clamps allow quick turn-off of inductive loads.
The MAX14915 is available in a compact 48-pin 6 mm x 6 mm QFN package.
