The XBee Multi Programmer is a combination of hardware and software that allows users to program multiple Digi Radio Frequency (RF) devices simultaneously. It provides a quick and easy way to prepare devices for release or deployment into large networks. It is a closed hardware component that allows users to program up to six RF devices at a time with the help of six external XBee slots. When used in conjunction with the multi-programmer application, the host will communicate with the board and allow the user to easily set up and execute programming sessions. To program more than six devices at a time, multiple multi-programmers can be run simultaneously to speed up the process.

To accommodate different Digi XBee form factors, the device includes an interchangeable insert. Board versions are available in through-hole, surface mount, and micromount Digi XBee form factors. Boards can be purchased separately and interchangeable depending on the shape of the module being programmed. Alternatively, to expedite the programming of multiple devices, users can purchase a Digi XBee multiplexer that fits the desired shape of the device, eliminating the need to replace boards.
