Mill-Max Compression Mount Spring-Loaded Connectors (SLC) Image Mill-Max's solderless, compression-loaded, spring-loaded connectors have two movable plungers that are held in place by hardware. Since no welding is required, it is easy to adjust and extremely flexible during assembly, while simplifying disassembly and replacement.
The 858-22-00X-80-XX1101 and 858-22-00X-80-XX2101 connectors complement Mill-Max's line of reinforced springs with a 4 mm pitch. They were the first Mill-Max connectors to feature a spring pin and movable plunger on each end. This unique feature makes these connectors ideal for situations where solder connections are not desired, or where solder connections are not possible due to design constraints such as temperature considerations, stacking tolerance issues, or the need for easy assembly and disassembly. The connector is sandwiched between two mating surfaces, with a spring-loaded plunger acting as an interface at both ends, using a screw to compress the plunger at the base end, eliminating the need for soldering. The opposite end plunger then acts as any other spring-loaded connector that can be engaged with a mating device or plate.
Environments such as in medical or research applications where equipment and mating surfaces must be wiped and cleaned frequently are excellent uses for solderless compression connectors because of their ease of assembly and disassembly. Test fixtures are also suitable as connectors will need to be replaced over time, and they can be easily done without desoldering. A variety of board stacking applications and docking stations, quick connect, or any assembly that relies on mechanical means to secure the device to the docking station or fixed end are ideal for use with these connectors. Two plunger travel options are available: 0.045" travel at both plunger ends; or 0.030" at the base end and 0.060" at the device end. Both are single-row and available with or without dowel pins and threaded inserts. Rugged spring pins are rated at 9 amps and feature stainless steel springs to maintain spring force at high temperatures.
