FUSB251 Type-C? CC and SBU protection IC
ON Semiconductor's FUSB251 turns off CC and SBU switches after power-on reset and provides a valid VDD supply
Image of ON Semiconductor's FUSB251 Type-C? CC and SBU Protection IC ON Semiconductor's FUSB251 is an I2C controlled overvoltage protection switch located on the CC and SBU pins of a Type-C interface port. The device features SPST switches on CC1/2 and SBU1/2, which are automatically enabled with a valid VDD, so the Type-C PD controller can use an overvoltage protected CC path. The FUSB251 has a dead battery mode, CC is pulled down through Rd, so the source device can provide V BUS for battery charging. Another feature of the FUSB251 is humidity detection and ADC detection on the CC and SBU paths. Once moisture is detected, an interrupt is generated and the corresponding register is updated to notify the host. The device features on-chip IEC protection for surge protection on the CC and SBU paths. Both CC and SBU ports are 20 V.DC tolerant.
