The TDA7498E, a high-performance analog Class-D audio amplifier, enables equipment manufacturers to develop next-generation home audio, professional-grade audio systems, and active speaker applications with a slim profile and superior sound quality. To maximize speaker output power, audio system manufacturers need high-efficiency audio power amplifiers capable of driving low-impedance 2Ω or 3Ω speakers, and this requirement will lead to larger equipment sizes. Product design engineers from STMicroelectronics successfully solved this problem, integrating power processing functions of 160W per channel output power and 320W total output power in a 100 mm2 package, and the power density of the latest analog Class D audio power amplifier TDA7498E. 20% higher than similar products in the market.

The high current output feature of the TDA7498E not only ensures high power output, but also enables developers to achieve a product platform solution with speaker impedance of 8Ω to 2Ω without any power or current limitation.

The TDA7498E also integrates several audio optimization features that improve sound quality in the end application, including built-in noise suppression, standby and mute functions, and balanced inputs that are optimal for suppressing TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) noise. The new product has a built-in intelligent current protection function, which can identify the frequency range of the peak current required by the speaker and automatically prevent the audio stream output from being interrupted.

The TDA7498E amplifier enables flexible configuration of audio systems in stereo and mono modes, and provides mono parallel capability to drive subwoofers/woofers in 2.1-channel audio system configurations. The new product has a signal-to-noise ratio of 100dB and provides four optional fixed gain settings of 23.8dB, 29.8dB, 33.3dB and 35.8dB.
