Supply LED lighting driver MP4012DS-LF-Z
The lighting driver MP4012DS-LF-Z is a current mode controller for driving high brightness light emitting diodes (LEDs) from an extremely wide input voltage of 8V~55V. It can be used in boost, buck, buck and SEPIC topologies. The lighting driver MP4012DS-LF-Z uses a fixed frequency/constant off-time structure to drive an external MOSFET to regulate the LED current, which is measured by an external current-sense resistor. Its feedback voltage can be adjusted by external DC bias voltage. The lighting driver MP4012DS-LF-Z can work in constant frequency mode or constant off. It features programmable ramp compensation to optimize control loop regulation and avoid sub-harmonic oscillations. The MP4012 uses an external disconnect MOSFET to achieve high frequency PWM dimming. Analog dimming is achieved by adjusting the feedback voltage. The lighting driver MP4012DS-LF-Z has a synchronization function that synchronizes multiple integrated circuits with each other by connecting multiple synchronization pins together. The LED lighting driver MP4012DS-LF-Z includes undervoltage lockout, overvoltage protection, open, short hiccup mode protection, overload protection and thermal protection to prevent damage in fault conditions. MP4012 adopts 16-pin SOIC package.

The MP4012 drives an external MOSFET with a current mode configuration to regulate the LED current, which is measured by an external current sensor resistor. Figure 1 shows the functional block diagram. The MP4012 uses a dedicated circuit to regulate the internal power supply, and the input voltage range is from 8V to 55V. A 7.75V linear regulator provides all power for internal circuitry and external MOSFET gate drive energy. The MP4012 has a 2% accurate 1.25V reference, which is used as a reference for the LED current. The reference is also used to set the current limit and overvoltage thresholds. The MP4012 can be programmed for constant switching frequency (CF) or constant off-time (CT) operation. Connect a resistor between the RT pin and GND to set the switching frequency for CF mode. Connect a resistor between RT pin and
The gate pin sets the off time for CT mode. For constant switching frequency mode, the MP4012 includes a slope compensation section to ensure the stability of the converter when the duty cycle is greater than 0.5. For synchronization, the synchronization pins of multiple MP4012s can be connected together or to the open-drain output of the master clock. When connected in this way, the oscillator will lock to the device with the highest operating frequency. The MP4012 has two high-speed current comparators. One is for normal operation and it contains an internal 100ns blanking time to prevent the current pulse from falsely triggering the comparator. The other is used to limit the maximum switch current, which is programmable by connecting a resistor divider from the REF pin.
