The switching regulator TPS62090RGTR device is a group of high frequency synchronous buck converters suitable for small size, high efficiency and suitable for battery powered applications. To maximize efficiency, the converter operates in pulse-width modulation (PWM) mode with a nominal switching frequency of 2.8 MHz/1.4 MHz and automatically enters a power-saving mode at light load currents. When used for distributed power and load regulation, the device allows the voltage to track other voltage rails and tolerate output capacitors from 10µF to 150µF and beyond. Using dc-control? topology, the device achieves good load transient performance and accurate output voltage regulation.
The output voltage start-up ramp is controlled by the softstart pin, which allows operation as a standalone supply or tracking configuration. Power can also be sequenced by configuring the enable and Power good pins. In power-save mode, the device operates with a quiescent current of typically 20µA. Automatically enters power saving mode to maintain high efficiency over the entire load current range
The switching regulator TPS62090RGTR synchronous switching mode converter is based on dc-control? (direct control, seamless switching to power saving mode). This is an advanced regulation topology that combines the advantages of hysteresis and voltage-mode control.
The dc-control? topology operates in pulse-width modulation (PWM) mode under medium and heavy load conditions and in power-saving mode under light load current. In PWM, the converter is rated to switch at 2.8 MHz/1.4 MHz with a controllable frequency variation over the input voltage range. As the load current decreases, the converter enters a power-saving mode, reducing the switching frequency to minimize the IC quiescent current, resulting in high efficiency over the entire load current range. DC-Control™ supports two modes of operation (PWM and PFM), using a single building block for seamless transition from PWM to power-saving mode without affecting the output voltage. The fixed output voltage version offers the smallest solution size and lowest quiescent current. The TPS62090RGTR series of switching regulators provides excellent DC voltage regulation and load transient regulation combined with low output voltage ripple to minimize interference to RF circuits.
