Supply Interface—CODEC/TLV320AIC3254IRHBR
The TLV320AIC3254 features two fully programmable tiny idsp cores that support application-specific algorithms in the recording and/or device playback paths. The core of miniaturization is completely controlled by software. Load the target algorithm into the device after power on.
The TLV320AIC3254 includes extensive register-based power control, input/output channel configuration, gain, effects, pin multiplexing and clocking, allowing precise positioning applications of the device. Combined with advanced PowerTune technology, the device covers operation from 8 kHz mono audio playback to 192kHz DAC audio stereo playback, making it ideal for portable battery powered audio and telephony applications.
The recording path of the TLV320AIC3254 includes operation from 8kHz mono to 192kHz stereo recording, and includes programmable input channel configurations, including single-ended and differential settings, and floating or mixed input signals. It also includes a digitally controlled stereo microphone preamp and integrated microphone bias. Digital signal processing modules can remove audible noise that can be caused by mechanical coupling, such as optical amplification in digital cameras.
The playback path provides signal processing blocks for filtering and effects, and supports flexible mixing of DAC and analog input signals as well as programmable volume control. The playback path consists of two high power output drivers and two fully differential outputs. The high power output can be configured in a number of ways, including stereo and mono BTL.
The integrated PowerTune technology allows tuning the device to the best balance of power performance. When mobile applications are used in a mobile environment, there are often multiple use cases that require very low power operation. When used in a marina environment, power consumption is usually less of a concern and minimizing noise is important. With PowerTune, the TLV320AIC3254 addresses both cases.
The TLV320AIC3254 analog power supply voltage range is 1.5V-1.95V, and the digital power supply voltage range is 1.26V-1.95V. To simplify system-level design, integrated LDOs generate appropriate analog or digital power supplies from input voltages from 1.8V to 3.6V. The device supports digital I/O voltages in the range of 1.1V-3.6V.
The internal clock required by the TLV320AIC3254 can come from multiple sources, including the MCLK pin, the BCLK pin, the GPIO pin, or the output of the internal phase-locked loop, where the input of the phase-locked loop can also come from the MCLK pin, BCLK, or GPIO pin . While using a phase-locked loop ensures a proper clock signal, it is not recommended for the lowest power settings. The PLL is highly programmable and can accept an available input clock in the range of 512 kHz to 50 MHz.
