The TLV320AIC3104 is a low-power stereo audio codec with a stereo headphone amplifier, and multiple inputs and outputs, programmable in single-ended or fully differential configurations. The device includes extensive register-based power controls, enabling stereo 48 kHz DAC playback from 3.3 volt analog supplies as low as 14 megawatts, making the device suitable for portable battery-operated audio and telephony applications.
The recording path of the TLV320AIC3104 includes integrated microphone bias, digitally controlled stereo microphone preamps and automatic gain control (AGC) with mixing/mux capability on multiple analog inputs. During recording, programmable filters can remove noise that can occur during optical magnification in digital cameras. The playback path includes mixing/mux capability from a stereo DAC and selected inputs to various outputs via programmable volume controls.
The TLV320AIC3104 contains four high-power output drivers as well as two fully differential output drivers. The high-power output driver can drive a variety of load configurations, including four channels of single-ended 16Ω headphones with AC-coupling capacitors, or 16Ω stereo headphones with no capacitor output configuration.
Stereo audio DAC supports sample rates from 8 kHz to 96 kHz and includes programmable digital filtering in the DAC path for 3D, bass, treble, mid-range effects, speaker equalization, and emphasis 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz sample rate. The stereo audio analog-to-digital converter supports sample rates from 8 kHz to 96 kHz and is preceded by a programmable gain amplifier or AGC that provides up to 59.5-dB of analog gain for low-level microphone inputs. The TLV320AIC3104 provides extremely high programmable ranges for attack (8-1, 408 ms) and decay (0.05-22.4 seconds). This extended AGC range allows tuning of the AGC for many types of applications.
For battery-saving applications that require neither analog nor digital signal processing, the device can be placed in a special analog signaling mode. This mode significantly reduces power consumption since most devices are powered down during this pass-through operation.
The serial control bus supports the I2C protocol, while the serial audio data bus is programmable for I2S, left, right justified, DSP or TDM modes. A highly programmable PLL includes flexible clock generation and supports all standard audio frequencies from a wide range of available MCLKs, from 512 kHz to 50 MHz, with special attention to the most popular cases, 12 MHz, 13 MHz, 16 MHz, 19.2 MHz and 19.68 MHz system clock.
The TLV320AIC3104 consists of a 2.7V to 3.6V analog supply, a 1.525V to 1.95V digital core supply, and a 1.1V to 3.6V digital I/O supply.
