The UC3842B and UC3843B series are high performance fixed frequency current mode controllers. They are designed for off-line and DC-to-DC converter applications, providing designers with a low-cost solution with minimal external components. These integrated circuits feature trimmed oscillators with precise duty cycle control, temperature compensated references, high gain error amplifiers, current sense comparators and high current totem pole outputs suitable for driving power MOSFETs.
Protection features are also included, including input and reference under-voltage lockout, each with hysteresis, cycle-by-cycle current limit, programmable output deadband, and a latched single-pulse metering.
These devices are available in an 8-pin dual wire and surface mount (SO-8) plastic package, and a 14-pin plastic surface mount (SO-14). The SO-14 package has separate power and ground pins for the totem pole output stage.
The UCX842B has UVLO thresholds of 16V(ON) and 10V(OFF), making it ideal for off-line converters. The UCX843B is suitable for low voltage applications with 8.5V(ON) and 7.6V(OFF) UVLO thresholds.
