The bq2461x is a highly integrated Li-Ion or Li-polymer switch-mode battery charge controller. The device provides a constant frequency synchronous switching PWM controller with high precision charging current and voltage regulation, charging preprocessing, termination, adapter current regulation and charging status monitoring.

The bq2461x charges the battery in three stages: preconditioning, constant current, and constant voltage.

When the current reaches a user-selectable minimum level, the charge is terminated. A programmable charge timer provides a safety backup. The bq2461x automatically restarts the charge cycle when the battery voltage falls below an internal threshold and enters a low quiescent current sleep mode when the input voltage falls below the battery voltage.

600 kHz nmos-nmos synchronous buck converter supports Li-Ion or Li-Polymer 5-V to 28 volt vcc input operating range, supports 1 to 6 battery cells (Bq 24610) 5-V to 24 volt vcc input range, and supports 1 to 5 batteries (Bq 24617). 10-Charging current and adapter current, high precision voltage and current regulation; 0.5% charging voltage accuracy &plusm; 3% charging current accuracy &plusm; 3% adapter current accuracy Integrated automatic system power supply
