Xilinx announced yesterday the appointment of Fei Yang, 41, as vice president of sales for Asia Pacific, reporting directly to Frank Tornaghi, senior vice president of global sales. Mr. Fei Yang will lead a broad network of marketing and sales personnel in the Asia Pacific region, including technical sales departments, manufacturer representatives and distributors.

As Vice President of Asia Pacific Sales, Fei Yang will be responsible for further driving the growth of Xilinx's record-breaking business in the Asia Pacific region. According to the sales data for the first quarter of Xilinx's fiscal year 2009, which just ended in June 2008, the sales revenue in the Asia-Pacific region accounted for 32% of the company's total operating income, setting a new historical record. According to iSuppli, an industry-leading market analysis company, Xilinx is the No. 1 programmable logic device (PLD) supplier in the Asia-Pacific region, with a market share of over 46%.

Yang Fei has over 17 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Xilinx, he was the Senior Marketing Director responsible for China sales at Cypress Semiconductor. Before that, he was director of automotive marketing in Asia for Freescale Semiconductor. Before that, he was Managing Director of China/Hong Kong at LSI Logic, and he was China/Hong Kong at C-Cube Microsystems before LSI Logic acquired C-Cube Microsystems the Regional Director. Before that, Yang Fei worked for distributor Memec. During his 5 years at Memec, he successively served as Field Application Engineer, Associate Product Manager and China Regional Manager, mainly responsible for the sales of Xilinx and C-Cube.
