To this end, Xilinx (Xilinx, Inc.) has announced the start of volume supply of Virtex-5 SX240T and FX200T two devices, and also launched a new Virtex-5 TXT FPGA platform, designed to help high-performance system architecture and design People achieve high performance, low power consumption, and time-to-market goals. Based on the industry-leading high-performance Virtex-5 FPGA fabric, these devices provide customers with the highest-performance configurable DSP platform, the only FPGA device embedded with dual PowerPC processors, and the world's highest-bandwidth serial connectivity.

Delivering up to 528GMACs of multiply-accumulate performance and over 190 GFLOPS of single-precision floating-point DSP performance, the SX240T device provides the world's highest-performance configurable DSP solutions. At the same time, the FX200T device has set a new industry record by providing up to 1900 DMIPs of embedded processing power by integrating two PowerPC 440 processor modules. With 24 integrated 6.5Gbps serial transceivers, the FX200T device is the largest Virtex-5 FXT FPGA platform optimized for embedded processing.

These devices complement the newly introduced Virtex-5 TXT devices. Optimized for 40GE, 100GE, and other high-bandwidth communication protocol bridging applications, the Virtex-5 TXT FPGA platform provides the largest number of 6.5Gbps serial transceivers, more than double the number of serial transceivers offered by other PFGAs, and provides Over 600Gbps of total bandwidth. The device will be available by the end of 2008.

The dynamic power consumption of Virtex-5 FPGAs is 35% to 40% lower than that of 90nm process products, providing developers with innovative transceiver technology, DSP and embedded processor performance, enabling customers to solve the challenges of next-generation system design.

Availability

Xilinx has offered 65nm Virtex-5 FPGA devices since May 2006, and has now launched 24 devices in five platforms (LX, LXT, SXT, FXT and TXT).
