Description of TPS7B82-Q1

In automotive battery connectivity applications, low quiescent current (IQ) is critical to conserve power and extend battery life. For always-on systems, ultra-low IQ is a must.

The TPS7B82-Q1 is a low dropout linear regulator designed to operate over a wide input voltage range of 3V to 40V (45V load dump protection). The TPS7B82-Q1 operates as low as 3V, so it can continue to operate during cold cranking and start and stop conditions. With a typical quiescent current of only 2.7μA at light loads, the device is an ideal solution for powering microcontrollers (MCUs) and CAN/LIN transceivers in standby systems.

These devices feature integrated short-circuit and overcurrent protection. The device operates from -40°C to +125°C ambient temperature with a junction temperature range of -40°C to +150°C. In addition, the device is packaged in a thermally conductive package, allowing long-lasting operation even if the entire device dissipates a lot of heat. Due to these characteristics, the device is intended to be used as a power supply for various automotive applications.
