The TPS56628 is an adaptive on-time D-CAP2 mode synchronous buck converter. The TPS56628 helps system designers complete a power bus regulator set for multiple end devices with a cost-effective, low component count, low standby current solution. The main control loop of the TPS56628 uses D-CAP2 mode control, which provides fast transient response without the need for external compensation components. Adaptive on-time control supports seamless transition between Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) mode at higher loads and Eco-mode™ operation at light loads. Eco-mode? enables the TPS56628 to maintain high efficiency under lighter load conditions. The proprietary circuitry of the TPS56628 also allows the device to use low equivalent series resistance (ESR) output capacitors such as polymer organic semiconductor solid state capacitors (POSCAP) or polymer polymer capacitors (SP-CAP), as well as ultra-low ESR ceramic capacitors . The device operates from an input voltage between 4.5V and 18V VIN. The output voltage can be programmed from 0.76V to 5.5V. The TPS56628 is available in an 8-pin DDA package and is designed to operate over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
