MNLM129A-X - Precision Benchmark
General Description The LM129 is a multi-faceted, current temperature compensated 6.9V Zener diode reference with 10 to 100 times less dynamic impedance than discrete diodes. Built on a single silicon die, the LM129 uses active circuitry to buffer allowing the internal Zener device to operate in the 0.5 mA to 15 mA range with little change in performance. The LM129 is available with selected temperature coefficients of 0.001, 0.002, 0.005 and 0.01%/c. These new references also have good long-term stability and low noise. A new ground zener breakdown using the LM129 provides lower noise and better long-term stability than conventional integrated circuit zener diodes. Further Zener and temperature compensated transistors are made of a planar process so that they are immune to problems that plague ordinary Zener diodes. For example, there is little in the zener voltage due to voltage variations due to temperature cycling and the device is insenstive to stress the cues. The LM129 can be used to improve performance in place of conventional Zener diodes. Low simplified dynamic impedance bias and wide operating current allow for replacement of zener types. The packaged LM129 is available in a 2T0 generation lead-46 package and is rated for operation over the -55C to +125C temperature range.
