APL1431 - Adjustable Precision Shunt Regulator

General description:
The APL1431 is a three-terminal adjustable voltage reference specified over the commercial temperature range applicable with thermal stability. The output voltage can be set to any voltage between Vref (2.5 V) and a value of 20 V with two external resistors (see Figure 2). When used with an optocoupler, the APL1431 is an ideal voltage referenced 2.5V to 12V switch-mode power supply in an isolated feedback circuit. This device has a typical output impedance of 0.1Ω. The active output circuit provides a very sharp turn-on characteristic, making the APL1431 an excellent replacement for Zener diodes for many applications, including on-board regulation and adjustable power supplies.
