The AP431/AP431A are 3-terminal adjustable precision shunt regulators with guaranteed temperature stability over extended applicable commercial grade temperature ranges. The output voltage can be set at any voltage level greater than 2.495V (VREF) up to 36V by simply selecting two external resistors to act as a voltage divider network. These devices have a typical output impedance of 0.2Ω. Active output circuits provide very sharp turn-on characteristics, making these devices an excellent Zener improvement over many alternative applications. The precise (+/-) 1% reference voltage tolerance made possible by the AP431/431A avoids the use of variable resistors in many applications, thus saving cost and eliminating drift and reliability issues associated with it.
