describe
The LM236 and LM336 are precision 2.5V regulator diodes. These monolithic integrated circuit voltage references such as 2.5V Zener diodes operate at low temperature coefficients and dynamic impedances of 0.2 watts. The third pin enables adjustment of the reference voltage and temperature coefficient.
Application Tips On the LM236, the LM336 voltage reference is easier to use than a Zener diode. Their low impedance wide current range facilitates any circuit biasing. In addition, the breakdown voltage or temperature coefficient can be adjusted to optimize the performance of this circuit. Figure 1 shows the circuit in which the 10kW potentiometer LM336 adjusts the reverse breakdown voltage to adjust the temperature without changing the coefficient. The adjustment range is usually sufficient to adjust the initial tolerance of the circuit and the inaccurate circuit of the amplifier. To obtain a lower temperature coefficient two diodes can be connected in series as shown in Figure 2 above. When the temperature of the circuit is adjusted to 2.49V the coefficient is minimized. For a correct temperature coefficient, the diode should be at the same ambient temperature as the LM336. The value of R1 is not very critical (2 -20 kW).
