TLE2426 - Distributor Precision Virtual Ground
Describes the reasons for the termination of all analog signals in signal conditioning applications utilizing a single supply where a reference voltage equal to half of the single supply voltage is required. Texas presents a precision instrument whose output voltage is always equal to half the input voltage, the TLE2426 "rail splitter." A unique combination of high performance, micropower op amps and a precisiontrimmed split on a single silicon chip results in a Precise narration/six ratio of 0.5, while sinking, pulling current. The TLE2426 provides a lowimpedance output with 20 mA source-sink capability, while supplying less than 280 mA over the full input voltage range of 4 V current to 40V at a price that designers do not have to pay for traditional signal-in-space resistors, Capacitors, ground and voltage references made up of op amps. The performance and precision of the TLE2426 provides an easy-to-use, space-saving, 3-terminal vinyl package. For improved performance, noise reduction pins are available in an optional 8-pin package. With the addition of an external capacitor (C), the peak-to-peak noise is reduced, while the ripple rejection ratio is improved. The initial output tolerance for a 5 V or 12 V system is better than 1% versus 3.6% over the entire 40 V input range. Ripple rejection exceeds 12-bit precision. Whether the application is a data acquisition front end, analog signal termination, or just a precision voltage reference, the TLE2426 eliminates the system's primary source of error.
