HIP4080-80V/2.5A Peak, High Frequency Full-Bridge FET Driver

Description The HIP4080 is a high frequency, medium voltage full bridge N-channel FET driver IC, available in 20 lead plastic SOIC and DIP packages. The HIP4080 includes input comparators to facilitate "hysteresis" and PWM modes of operation. Its hen (high start) lead can force the current flywheel to the bottom two external power MOSFETs, keeping the upper power MOSFET off. Because it can switch frequencies up to 1MHz, it is very suitable for HIP4080 voice coil motor drives, Class D high frequency switching audio switching amplifier amplifiers and power supplies. HIP4080 can also drive medium-pressure brush motors, and two HIP4080s can be used to drive high-performance stepper motors, because short-term minimum "on time" can provide fine microstepping capabilities. The short propagation delay of about 55ns maximizes the control loop crossover frequency and dead times, which can be adjusted to near zero to minimize distortion, resulting in precise control in driving the load. A similar HIP4081 IC allows all 4 independently controlled FETs in a full bridge configuration. See also the HIP4080 application note AN9324. A similar part, the HIP4080A, includes an undervoltage circuit which is not required for the circuit shown in Figure 30 in this datasheet. ...
