HIP6603-Synchronous Rectification Buck MOSFET Driver
Buck Driver for Synchronous Rectifier MOSFETs
The HIP6601 and HIP6603 high frequency, dual MOSFET drivers are specifically designed to drive two power N-channel MOSFETs in synchronous rectified buck converters. Combining these drivers with the HIP630x multiphase buck PWM controller and Intersil UltraFETs™ form a complete core voltage regulator solution for advanced microprocessors. The HIP6601 drives the lower gate bridge in synchronous rectification to 12V, while the high gate can be independently driven in a range from 5V to 12V. Above the HIP6603 of the driver is the upper and lower gates in the 5V to 12V range. This flexibility of drive voltage offers the advantage of optimizing application areas involving the trade-off between switching losses and conduction losses. The HIP6601 and HIP6603 output drivers have the ability to efficiently switch power MOSFETs at frequencies up to 2MHz. Each driver has the ability to drive 3000pF loads with 30ns and 50ns propagation delay transitions. Both products require only one external capacitor for bootstrap and turn-on. This will reduce implementation complexity and allow the use of higher performance, cost-effective, N-channel MOSFETs. Adaptive shoot-through protection to prevent both integration from simultaneous MOSFETs.
