NCP5355-12 V Synchronous Buck Power MOSFET Driver
The NCP5355 is a dual MOSFET gate driver optimized to drive both high and low side output power gates in a synchronous MOSFET buck converter. The NCP5355 is a good companion to multiphase controllers without integrated gate drivers, such as ON Semiconductor's NCP5314 and NCP5316. This architecture provides power supply designers with greater flexibility in finding MOSFETs near the gate driver. Having a MOSFET driven by a 12 V source instead of a 5.0 V reduces conduction losses significantly. Internally optimized, adaptive non-overlapping circuitry prevents further reduction of switching losses from turning on two MOSFETs simultaneously. The floating-top driver design accommodates the drain five of the MOSFETs, with voltages up to 26. The gate outputs can drive a low logic enable (EN) pin with a low high application level. The undervoltage lockout function ensures that the two driver outputs are low when the supply voltage is low, and the thermal shutdown function provides the IC with overheating protection. The NCP5355 has a gate driver with V 5.0 on the NCP5351 pins.
