MC33091 - TMOS for high-side driver
The MC33091A is a high-end TMOS driver designed for use in harsh automotive switching applications that require high performance to handle voltage due to load and field dump transients, as well as torsional and dual battery conditions. Few external components can drive a wide variety of N-channel TMOS devices. The MC33091A, driving device-related TMOS, provides a high-end economical system solution for high-current switching. The MC33091A has CMOS compatible input control, charge pump driven TMOS power transistors, basic fault detection circuit, VDS monitoring circuit used to detect load short circuit TMOS, associated current and overcurrent circuit protection bud timer. Short circuit protection is possible with a unique VDS voltage-to-current converter driving an externally programmable IC. This circuit can provide fast detection of load shorts, while allowing difficult loads, such as lamps with high inrush current, more time to turn on. The fault output is controlled by an open collector NPN transistor requiring a single pull-up resistor for operation. Whenever a fault is reported the current on the MOSFET exceeds the externally programmed level. The MC33091A is available in a plastic 8-lead DIP package, as well as a plastic 8-lead surface mount package. Automotive high-side driver application design•
