UPD16818GR-8JG-Stepper Motor Controller/Driver
Description The mPD16818 is a monolithic dual H-bridge driver IC that uses N-channel power MOS FETs for its output stage. By employing power MOS field-effect transistors for the output stage, the voltage and saturation of the driver circuit are significantly improved compared to conventional driver circuits that use bipolar transistors. Additionally, the drive current can be adjusted using external resistors in power-saving mode. Therefore, the mPD16818 is ideal as a two-phase excitation drive circuit, a bipolar stepper motor driver for an FDD head actuator.
Features • Compatible with supply voltage 3V-/5V-
• Pin compatible with mPD16803
• Low (sum of top and bottom ON resistance MOSFETs) ON resistance
RON1 = 1.2 watts (VM = 3.0 V)
RON2 = 1.0 watts (VM = 5.0 V) • Low current consumption: IDD = 0.4 mA typical. Curve (VDD = 2.7 V to 3.6 V)
• Stop mode function, turn off all output MOS FETs in turn • Drive current can be set to power saving mode (set by external resistors)
• Small surface mount package
