CS5112YDWF24-Current Mode Switching Power Supply Controller

Description The CS5112 is a dual output power integrated circuit. This contains a 5.0 V ± 2%, 100 mA linear regulator, watchdog timer, linear output voltage monitoring provides a power-on reset (POR) and a 1.4 A current mode PWM switching regulator. The 5.0 V linear regulator is composed of an error amplifier, ref, and supervisory functions. It features low internal supply current consumption and provides a low dropout of 1.2 V (typ) maximum load current. A watchdog timer circuit monitors the input signal (WDI) by the microprocessor. It responds to this watchdog falling edge signal. If the signal is incorrectly received within the watchdog for an externally programmable time, a reset signal is issued. The external programmable active reset circuit operates normally for output voltages (VLIN) as low as 1.0 V, upon power-up, or if the output voltage changes below this regulation limit, the low reset toggles and continues for the correct output after a delay time Low voltage regulation resumes. Another reset pulse will be issued by the watchdog incorrectly received within the programmed time. The reset pulse continues until the correct watchdog is signaled. The reset pulse width and frequency, as well as the power-on reset delay power, are carried by an external RC network. The current mode PWM switching regulator is controlled by an error amplifier with selectable feedback input, a current sense amplifier, an adjustable oscillator, and a 1.4 A output power switch with anti-saturation. The switching regulator can be configured in a variety of topologies. The CS5112 is load dump capable, has protection circuits which include current limiting on linear and switching outputs, and thermal limiters.
