MIC5022 - Half-Bridge MOSFET Driver
General Description The MIC5022 Half-Bridge MOSFET Driver is designed to operate up to 100kHz (2% to 5kHz PWM 100% duty cycle) and is an ideal choice for high speed applications such as motor control and SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supplies). A current source sinks a pulse-to-pulse OR gate output on the input resulting in a rising or falling edge. This output current pulse can turn on a 2000pF MOSFET in about 1 millisecond. The MIC5022 then provides a "current limit" (< 2mA), if necessary, to hold the output state. Two nominal voltage overcurrent comparators accessed with 50mV are fabricated with the ideal MIC5022 MOSFET using current sensing. External low resistor values can be used with In place of the MOSFETs for more accurate sensing of overcurrent control. Optional external capacitor placement on the WE and CTL pins can be used to individually control the current shutdown duty from approximately 20% of the cycle to '1%. The duty cycle is from around 20% to 75%, with individual pull-up resistors possible from CTL and WE to VDD. An open collector output provides a fault indication to detect when the input is either tripped. The MIC5022 is available in 16-pin wide body SOIC and 14-pin plastic DIP packages. Other members of the MIC502x family include the MIC5020 low-side driver and the MIC5021 high-side driver.
