MC33253 - Full-Bridge Pre-Driver

The MC33253 is a complete bridge driver including an integrated charge pump, two independent high-side and low-side driver channels. The high- and low-side drivers include a cross-conduction suppression circuit that, if enabled, prevents external power FETs at the same time. The driver output is capable of sourcing and sinking a peak-to-pulse current. The lower channel is the reference ground, and the higher ground channel is floating above. The linear regulator provides a maximum of 15.5V for the low supply side gate drive stage. The high-side driver provides a stage 10V charge pump voltage. This built-in feature, associated with external capacitors, provides a fully floating high-side drive. A mains and overvoltage protection system prevents unstable operation in the supply voltage. In a fault, these functions force the driver stage into a shutdown state. Logic inputs are compatible with standard CMOS or LSTTL outputs. Input hysteresis makes the switching time of the output independent of the switching time of the input. A global enable logic signal can be used to disable the charge pump and all bias circuits. The net benefit is to reduce quiescent supply current to less than 10µA. To turn on the circuit, 5 V can be set to G_EN. A built-in single-supply operational amplifier can be used to feed back information from the output load to an external microcontroller.
