LX8117-00CDDT-Positive Adjustable Voltage Regulator

The LX8117/8117A/8117B family of active low dropout (LDO) regulators. When designing the maximum load current, the dropout voltage of the LX8117 series is guaranteed to be 0.8A1.2V or lower (LX8117A1.3V@1A). drop-out output voltage varies with load current. Adjustable output voltage versions LX8117/17A/17B are available, as well as with fixed output versions 2.5V, 2.85V, 3.3V and 5V. The 2.85V version is designed for use as an active termination part of a SCSI bus network. Trimmed on-chip, the internal voltage reference allows specification of the initial output within ±1% of its nominal voltage value. The output current limit point is also trimmed, which helps reduce regulators and stress when they operate under shorted system supply conditions. The regulator's internal circuitry will operate down to 1V from the input to the differential output. Most regulator circuits are designed with output capacitance values ranging from tens to hundreds or more. The LX8117/17A/17B typically require at least 10µF output capacitors for stable operation. PNP-type regulators can waste current equal to up to 10% of their output as quiescent current flows directly to ground, bypassing the load. Quiescent current flows through the load from the LX8117/17A/17B, increasing power usage efficiency and allowing cooler operation. The LX8117 is available in low profile plastic SOT-223 and D-PAK packages for space-constrained applications. Also available in a plastic LX8117TO-263 package as an example where thermal resistance from the circuit must be minimized to the environment.
