LM104 - Negative regulation
The LM104 series of precision voltage regulators can be programmed to supply any 40V voltage down to zero by a single external resistor, while operating from a single unregulated supply. They can also provide 0.01% supply using a separately regulated, floating bias circuit, where the output voltage is limited only by external breakdown through the transistor. Although designed primarily as a linear, series regulator, this circuit can be used as a switching regulator, current regulator or in several other control applications. Typical performance characteristics are:
Underground Zener Reference
1 mV regulation without full load
0.01%/V Voltage Regulation
0.2 mV/V ripple rejection
0.3% over the range of military temperature temperature stability
The LM104 series are LM105 active with voltage regulators designed for system specifications requiring negative voltage supplies with an unregulated common point. By themselves, they can provide 25mA of output current, but external transistors can be added to get any desired current. The output voltage is limited by external resistors, and any constant or foldback current is available. The LM104 is specified for operation in the military temperature range of B55§C to A125§C. The LM204 is specified for operation over the B25 §§ C to A85 C temperature range. The LM304 regulations work from C to A700§§ C.
