LM2931 - Low Dropout Regulator
The LM2931 family includes fixed and adjustable outputs that are specifically designed to maintain proper regulator regulation with extremely low input-to-output voltage differences. These devices are capable of oversupplying at 100 mA of output current and feature a 10 mA output with a low bias current of 0.4 mA. Designed primarily to survive the harsh automotive environment, these slave input devices will protect the load circuit from all external fault conditions caused by reverse battery connections, two battery jump starts, and over-line during load dump transients . The series also includes internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and, in addition, the ability to withstand temporary EM image insertion. Due to the low dropout voltage and bias current specifications, the LM2931 series is well suited for battery powered industrial and consumer equipment where a useful battery life extension is desirable. The output pins of the "C" suffix adjustable output regulators are very useful for suppressing microprocessor-based systems.
