The negative regulation SG7900A/SG7900 series provides a self-contained system with a fixed voltage capability of up to 1.5A of load current. With a variety of output voltages and four package options this series of regulators is an optimal complement to the SG7800A/SG7800, SG140's three-wire termination regulators. These units feature a unique bandgap reference that allows the SG7900A series to be specified for ±1.5% output voltage tolerance. This SG7900A version also offers greatly improved line regulation characteristics. Full thermal shutdown protection, current limit and safe area control are designed into these units and regulators as these require only a single output capacitor (SG7900 series) or capacitor and a minimum load of 5mA for satisfactory performance (SG120 series), ease of application is guaranteed. Although designed as a fixed voltage regulator, the output voltage can be used by adding a simple voltage divider. The low quiescent leakage current device ensures good regulation when this method is used, especially for the SG120 series. These devices are available in hermetic TO-257, TO-3, TO-39 and LCC packages.
