The active regulators describing these three terminals are available in high-density sealed packs and offer Hi-REL screening. All protection functions, designed into the circuit, include thermal shutdown, current limit and safe area control. Dissipating heat, these devices can deliver up to 1.5 amps of output current. These units also have an output voltage that can be fixed from 1.2 volts to 57 volts using external resistors. These devices are ideal for space applications where small size, high reliability, and radiation tolerance are required. The high level of radioactivity of these devices makes them desirable for LEO and the choice of many Earth-orbiting and geostationary communications satellites. Radiation testing is performed on a single wafer on a wafer basis. A random die sample of each wafer is selected, packaged and radiation tested to qualify each individual semiconductor wafer wafer.
